El Segundo relaxes fees, restrictions to increase temporary housing options for fire victims
The city of El Segundo has temporarily lifted restrictions to help increase temporary housing options for people displaced by the L.A. area wildfires.
According to a release issued Wednesday by city officials, the order is effective immediately.
The legislation dictates that permits will be issued with no fees for RVs housing people displaced by the fires for up to 30 days.
Fees for short-term rental permits are also waived so rentals can be made available to wildfire victims.
Additionally, the Transient Occupancy Taxes at extended stay hotels – defined as a hotel room with a kitchen and refrigerator – will be waived for displaced individuals.
The order also addresses air quality issues by suspending street sweeping and parking citations until Friday and a temporary prohibition on power air or leaf blowers, similar to Pasadena.
The full emergency order and access to temporary permit applications can be found here.
