California Winter Weather Alert: Heavy Snow Hits Trinity County Through Friday

Eureka, CA – A final round of winter weather is set to bring heavy snow to Northern California, impacting high elevations of Trinity County, Del Norte, and Humboldt through Friday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, a Winter Weather Advisoryremains in effect from 10 a.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday, with 3 to 5 inches of snow expected along higher elevations of Highways 299, 199, and 36. Some isolated peaks could see up to 12 inches of accumulation.
Snow levels will begin around 2,000 feet before rising gradually into Friday morning. While Humboldt and Del Norte counties will receive lighter snowfall, higher elevations could experience hazardous conditions, including reduced visibility and slippery roads.
Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution, as travel could be difficult. Snow chains may be required on affected highways. Residents should check Caltrans road conditions by calling 511 before traveling.
This storm marks the final round of snowfall for the region, but lingering impacts could persist into the weekend as snow melts and refreezes overnight.
