Brookland, Arkansas — A 36-year-old mother in Arkansas has been sentenced to 120 days in prison after she admitted to giving her children marijuana and THC edibles.
Deanna Sue Woods was arrested in January after a report was made by a Department of Human Services worker who spoke to Woods’ 6-year-old daughter.
Discovery of the Abuse
The child revealed to the worker that her mother had been allowing her and her siblings to ingest marijuana and THC-infused edibles, leading to a drug test that confirmed the presence of THC in the child’s system.
The authorities were then contacted, and a detective from the Brookland Police Department took over the case.
Admission and Charges
Woods was arrested the following day and reportedly confessed to the detective, admitting that she had given THC-infused honey and chocolate to her three children, aged 6, 10, and 15. Additionally, she said she allowed the younger children to use her vape pen.
Woods also admitted to smoking marijuana around her 1-year-old child and using the substance while breastfeeding.
Woods was charged with 12 counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the first degree and introduction of a controlled substance into the body of another person.

Legal Outcome
After spending 60 days in jail, Woods posted bail. However, following a June 25 hearing, she pled guilty to one count of each charge and was sentenced to an additional 60 days in jail, totaling 120 days.
Along with her prison sentence, she will be required to attend parenting and substance abuse classes. She is also prohibited from having contact with her children unless approved by a guardian and the Department of Human Services.
