Boston’s Logan Airport Increases Ride-Share and Parking Charges

Logan, Boston – Logan Airport in Boston has increased its fees for both Uber and Lyft rides, as well as parking in its garages, with the new rates taking effect on Tuesday.

Uber and Lyft Fare Increase

The new fees for Uber and Lyft passengers are now set at an extra $5.50 each way, a hike from the previous $3.25 charge. Initially, Massport proposed raising the fee to $7.50, but a compromise was reached.

One of the changes, once fully implemented, will allow passengers to be dropped off directly in front of the terminal doors instead of at a designated spot in the garage.

However, this new drop-off procedure has not yet been put into effect, and passengers are still expected to be dropped off in the specified garage areas.

“We are continuing to have conversations with our ride-share partners about future changes,” a spokesperson from MassDOT mentioned.

The updated agreement also provides Uber and Lyft drivers with additional time to accept pickup requests after making an airport drop-off. Furthermore, there will be more shared ride opportunities, and the companies are required to introduce a shuttle service to Logan Airport.

Massport CEO Rich Davey stated that this compromise would allow for “new, cheaper ways to get to Boston Logan,” while also addressing the ongoing traffic issues at the airport.

Logan Airport Parking Prices

Parking fees at Logan Airport have also risen. The maximum daily rate for parking in the airport’s main garage is now $46, up from $41 per day. Meanwhile, parking in the economy garage has increased to $37 per day, up from $32.

There is also a Logan Express from Back Bay to the airport, priced at $3 each way, with free return rides.
