Historic Wedding Ring Returned After Diver’s Lucky Discovery in Texas Lake

PALO PINTO COUNTY, TEXAS — A diver has successfully recovered a 105-year-old diamond wedding ring that slipped off a woman’s hand and fell into Possum Kingdom Lake in Palo Pinto County.

The treasured heirloom, passed down through generations, was found after a tireless three-day search that brought a team of volunteers, including the diver, together in a remarkable story of perseverance.

The Loss: A Wedding Ring Lost in the Lake

JackO’Lynn Page, while visiting the lake with her son’s baseball team, lost her diamond wedding ring last Friday. She was spending the day enjoying the lake with her son’s baseball team and their families when, at some point, her wedding ring slipped off her finger and fell into the water.

Possum Kingdom Lake, a man-made reservoir that spans around 17,000 acres, is known for its vast size and deep waters. It trails along the Brazos River, stretching 65 miles, making the recovery of a lost item an incredibly challenging task.

Realizing the significance of the loss, Page, along with her son’s baseball team, parents, and even grandparents, quickly gathered to search for the ring. They scoured the area on foot, but after hours of searching with no success, Page turned to Blue Diver Search and Recovery for help.

The Search: Diver Ryan Prigmore Takes on the Challenge

Ryan Prigmore, a diver with Blue Diver Search and Recovery, arrived at the lake ready to search the depths of the water where the ring had fallen. The designated search area was about 100 feet by 50 feet in size, making it a tough task to locate the precious heirloom.

Prigmore dove into the lake on Friday afternoon, determined to find the ring. Despite facing waves and challenging underwater conditions, he was unable to locate the ring that day. However, he reassured Page that he would continue the search, no matter the odds.

“I was getting thrashed by the waves, but I gave my word that I would be back to keep trying,” Prigmore said. “I wasn’t going to give up.”

A Breakthrough: Ring Recovered After Improved Conditions

On Monday, Prigmore returned to the lake under better conditions. With clearer water and calm weather, he dove in once more, this time finding Page’s ring at the bottom of the lake.

Prigmore kept Page updated throughout the search and eventually sent her a picture of the recovered ring, marking the emotional reunion between Page and her treasured family heirloom.

“I am so thankful for him! He didn’t give up on it. I had been preparing myself for the last few days that it was lost, and I wouldn’t see it again. My ring is so special to me, and I had no idea how I’d get over this. I’m over the moon knowing it’s coming home to me!” Page shared on Facebook.
