Idaho Winter Storm Warning: Up to 3 Feet of Snow, 45 MPH Winds Through Monday

Pocatello, ID – A powerful winter storm is bringing heavy snowfall and strong winds to eastern and central Idaho, with dangerous travel conditions expected through early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Pocatello, a Winter Storm Warningremains in effect until 5 a.m. MST Monday for areas including the Bear River Range, Blackfoot Mountains, and Teton Valley. Lower elevations could see 6 to 12 inches of snow, while higher elevations may receive up to 3 feet. Wind gusts up to 45 mph will create blowing and drifting snow, further reducing visibility.
In addition, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 5 p.m. MST Saturday for the Sun Valley Region and surrounding areas. A more severe Winter Storm Warningfollows from 5 a.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Tuesday, with 10 to 40 inches of snowexpected, depending on elevation.
Travelers are urged to exercise caution, as roads may become impassable. The Idaho Department of Transportation advises checking 511.idaho.gov for real-time road conditions. Motorists should carry emergency supplies, including food, water, and a flashlight.
This storm is expected to ease by early Tuesday, but lingering snowfall and cold temperatures may continue to impact travel.
