Lake Charles Forecast: Frosty Nights and Rain Expected Through the Weekend

Lake Charles, LA – Residents in Southwest Louisiana should prepare for a significant cold snap later this week, with temperatures falling well below normal levels. Forecasters warn of frosty conditions starting Friday night, accompanied by rain and possible thunderstorms into Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the region has a 71% chance of below-normal temperatures between Thursday and early next week. Tuesday will remain mild with highs near 53°F, but conditions will worsen by Friday as the mercury dips into the mid-30s overnight. Winds could also gust up to 25 mph, further intensifying the chill.

Showers are expected to develop late Friday, with a 50% chance of rain continuing into Saturday. Forecasters caution that thunderstorm activity may occur overnight Friday, creating hazardous travel conditions. Roads such as Interstate 10 and Highway 171 could become slick, so drivers are advised to remain vigilant.

Daytime highs will hover in the upper 50s to mid-60s through Thursday, offering a brief respite before colder air arrives. Frost may form as early as Wednesday night, with temperatures falling into the low 40s. Those with sensitive plants or outdoor pets should take precautions to ensure their safety.

Looking ahead, the weekend brings continued chances for rain and colder weather, with daytime highs barely reaching the upper 40s by Sunday. Residents are encouraged to monitor weather updates and prepare for potential freezing conditions.
