Nevada Weather Alert: Snow x Windy Through Sunday in Reno-Tahoe Area – 2–12 Inches Expected

Reno, NV – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Greater Reno-Carson City-Minden area, the Tahoe Basin, and Mono-S. Lyon-Mineral counties from 7 a.m. Saturday to 4 p.m. Sunday. The advisory warns of snow accumulation and strong winds, impacting travel throughout the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Reno, the Reno-Carson City-Minden area can expect trace amounts to 3 inches of snow, with up to 6 inches in foothill areas such as Virginia City. The Tahoe Basin and Greater Lake Tahoe area may see 1–4 inches of snow in lower elevations, with peaks of the Carson Range and Alpine County receiving up to 8 inches. Higher elevations above 7,000 feet could accumulate up to 12 inches of snow.

Gusty winds are also forecasted, with speeds up to 65 mph along ridges in the Tahoe Basin and up to 60 mph in Mono-S. Lyon-Mineral counties. Roads may become snow-covered and slick, creating hazardous travel conditions throughout the weekend.

Residents and travelers are urged to prepare for delays and exercise caution. Stay updated through local weather reports and consider avoiding unnecessary travel during advisory hours.
