Southern California man allegedly assaulted wife, threatened to kill children with AK47

Officers arrested a man for allegedly assaulting his wife while armed, leaving her hospitalized, and threatening to kill her and their small children in San Bernardino County, officials announced Friday.

The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department said deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call around 7:49 p.m. on Feb. 13 in Adelanto.

SBSD said that according to the caller, the man was armed and assaulting his wife.

Upon arriving at the house located in the 11100 block of Rosedale Drive, deputies evacuated the home and detained the suspect, identified as 40-year-old Dale Allen Roos of Adelanto.

SBSD said Roos is a convicted felon.

Deputies found that Roos assaulted his wife, and transported her to a local hospital. Officials did not immediately say what condition she was in as of Friday night.

“Roos also threatened to kill his wife and small children, all under the age of 15, with an AK47,” SBSD said in a release.

The AK47 assault rifle was found during a search of the home, as well as several other firearms.

Deputies arrested Roos and booked him at the High Desert Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon, spousal abuse, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of an illegal assault weapon and manufacturing of a large capacity magazine.

Roos is being held with a bail of $150,000, SBSD said.

The investigation is ongoing and officials ask anyone with information to contact Deputy B. Velazquez at the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station by calling 760-552-6800.
