Vallejo, California – A dramatic pursuit across multiple cities and jurisdictions unfolded on Friday when two suspects in a suspected stolen car led law enforcement agencies on separate chases, ending with one suspect in custody and the other severely injured.
The Initial Pursuit:
It all began in Vallejo, California, when officers noticed a vehicle driving recklessly without a license plate. Vallejo Police initiated a pursuit but ended it before the vehicle left the city.
The chase soon escalated when California Highway Patrol (CHP) deployed a helicopter to track the vehicle. Berkeley Police were notified by CHP around 4:16 p.m. that the helicopter had spotted the stolen car, and they began monitoring the situation.
CHP clarified that the helicopter’s role was solely to report the vehicle’s location to other agencies, and no ground units were involved.
Vehicle Crashes and Change of Direction:
As the pursuit continued, the vehicle entered Emeryville and then Oakland, where it crashed into several vehicles. Shortly after, the two suspects exited the vehicle. One of the suspects was apprehended by the Oakland Police Department, while the other fled, initiating another chase.
Carjacking and Subsequent Pursuit:
The second suspect allegedly carjacked another vehicle, prompting yet another chase by Oakland Police. This pursuit continued onto Highway 13, and the suspect exited at Tunnel Road into Berkeley, where Berkeley Police resumed the chase.
During the pursuit, the suspect hit several pedestrians, knocking them to the ground, though police could not find anyone who reported being struck.

Ongoing Investigation:
As of now, Berkeley Police have not released further information regarding the condition of the injured suspect. Authorities are still investigating the situation, including the possibility of pedestrians being struck and other details related to the carjacking.
In addition, the first suspect, taken into custody in Oakland, remains under investigation as law enforcement agencies continue to piece together the events leading up to the multiple car chases.
