Delano Embezzlement Case: Accused Faces $20,000 Fraud Charges

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A woman is currently in police custody on allegations of embezzling $20,000 from the Delano Philippine Weekend Committee in Delano, as reported by the local authorities.

In May, members of the Delano Philippine Weekend Committee approached the police with concerns regarding a potential embezzlement of $20,000 from their organization. Following an investigation conducted by detectives, Delilah Madriaga Mascarinas, aged 66, was identified as the primary suspect, according to the Delano police department.

The case was subsequently presented to the Kern County District Attorney’s Office, leading to the filing of criminal charges against Mascarinas. On the 25th of September, she was apprehended by Delano police without any resistance.

Mascarinas is facing charges of felony embezzlement and the creation and circulation of fictitious checks, also classified as a felony. Presently, she is being held in custody with a bail set at $50,000 and is slated to appear in court on October 9th.
