Montana’s Beloved Costco Makes Surprising Relocation!

A new deluxe Costco store has recently opened in Montana as part of the company’s nationwide expansion efforts. In exchange, another Costco store in the area has been closed.

For some context, as of October 3, 2023, there are a total of 598 Costco stores in the United States, according to ScrapeHero.com. California leads with 135 stores, accounting for approximately 23% of all US Costco locations.

The new Montana store, as reported on October 27th by BillingsGazette.com, is located just across the street from the zoo. The new location at 3880 Zoo Drive boasts a 166,388-square-foot warehouse, a twelve-pump fuel station, and 852 parking stalls. This new store is a relocation from the previous King Avenue West warehouse, which first opened in December 1991.

In an earlier report from KULR8.com on October 19th, Jeff Ewelt, the Executive Director of ZooMontana, expressed enthusiasm for the town’s growth and mentioned plans to collaborate with the city to manage increased traffic due to the new store.

The closed Costco store at King Avenue and 24th Street West, situated at one of Billings’ busiest intersections, is reportedly up for sale.
