25-Year-Old Inmate Flees Los Angeles County Correctional Facility: Urgent Search

Authorities are currently seeking a fugitive who escaped from a correctional facility in Los Angeles County on Sunday.

According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Aleisha Schmitz, a 25-year-old inmate, absconded from a Custody to Community Transitional Reentry Program facility at approximately 7:10 p.m.

Schmitz was last observed getting into a gray or silver Mercedes outside the facility premises. The alarm on her monitoring device prompted agents to be notified. Although the facility staff promptly conducted a thorough search, she could not be located.

Schmitz is described as a woman who stands 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing around 197 pounds. She possesses brown eyes, brown hair, and has a light complexion. At the time of her escape, she was dressed in a blue jacket and gray sweatpants.

Her current sentence entails three years for multiple charges, including second-degree robbery and hit-and-run causing injury to someone other than herself. Schmitz had been admitted to the correctional facility on July 7, 2022.
