Caregiver Charged with Murder of Two Elderly Women in Diamond Bar, California

Diamond Bar, California – The District Attorney for Los Angeles County has announced charges against a 40-year-old caregiver who is accused of killing two elderly women at an assisted living facility.

On June 27th, District Attorney George Gascón stated that Jianchun Li has been charged with two counts of murder and is scheduled for arraignment the following day.

According to Gascón, deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to an incident at Happy Home Care on Sapphire Canyon Road on June 24th. They discovered two deceased residents, Monica Moon Lee, 75, and Hee Sook Park, 83. The cause of their deaths has not been disclosed, but foul play is suspected.

Neighbors informed KTLA-TV that around six individuals reside on the property of the facility.

After conducting an investigation, the Sheriff’s Office determined that Li, who worked as a live-in caregiver at the facility, is believed to have killed the two victims.

In a statement, Gascón remarked, “The tragic and brutal murders of these two elderly women at Happy Home Care serve as a stark reminder of the need for increased vigilance and scrutiny in our care facilities.”

He further stated, “We must ensure that all caregivers are held accountable for their actions. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims, and we will work tirelessly to bring them the justice they deserve.”

The investigation is still ongoing.
