PC 530.5(c)(3) – Identity theft more than 10 victims
PC 484g(b) – Theft and use of debit card
PC 530.5(e) – Mail theft
SUSPECT: Peter Paul Cabrera 35 YOA Ridgecrest resident
On 4/26/2021, at about 0900 hours, Officers were dispatched to 934 N. Heritage Dr. regarding the theft of a mail box. Upon arriving on scene, officers were shown a photograph captured from the surveillance cameras. Ofc. Cushman recognized the vehicle as belonging to Peter Cabrera.
A short time later, Reserve Ofc. Smythe and Sgt. Groves were on patrol and observed Cabrera driving his vehicle in the 100 block of S. Norma St. They conducted a traffic stop and contacted Cabrera. During the stop, officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found mail to more than 25 different residences, including 934 N. Heritage Dr. Cabrera was also found to be in possession of several credit/debit cards that did not belong to him. After the investigation, Cabrera was transported to Bakersfield and booked into the Central Receiving Facility.
