Breaking News: Valdosta Bar Shooting Victim Finally Identified

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations has provided more information regarding the fatal shooting that occurred at a Valdosta bar over the weekend. They have identified the victim as 21-year-old Brianna Long from Paulding County.

According to a GBI statement, Brianna Long was employed as a bartender at The Pier, a bar in Remerton. After the bar closed at 2:00 a.m., Long, along with most of her colleagues and a few friends, remained inside the bar to complete their closing duties.

According to the statement, the gunfire came from outside the building and struck Long while she was finishing her work with a coworker around 2:30 a.m. She was taken to South Georgia Medical Center, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries.

GBI officials described the shooting as senseless and believed it resulted from an altercation outside The Pier. Regardless, an innocent person lost her life due to someone else’s actions, and many people were put in danger. Additional patrons were still outside in the parking lot when the shooting occurred. The gunfire also damaged the business and several parked vehicles.

An autopsy for Brianna Long is scheduled at the GBI Crime Lab on Tuesday, according to the GBI. The department did not mention whether a suspect is in custody.

GBI investigators emphasized that the case remains active and ongoing. They urged anyone with information about the case to contact the GBI Thomasville Office at 229-225-4090 or the Remerton Police Department at 229-247-2320.
