The Richmond Police Department has reported a tragic incident that occurred on Friday night, resulting in two fatalities and one individual sustaining injuries.
On the evening of October 6th, at precisely 7:46 pm, Richmond Police Department Dispatch received an alert from ShotSpotter, indicating an incident in the vicinity of 23rd St. Concurrently, multiple calls were made to report a shooting incident unfolding in the 900 block of 23rd St.
Swiftly, officers were dispatched to the scene and arrived within a mere two minutes.
Upon reaching the location, officers discovered three victims. Tragically, one of these victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The two other victims were swiftly transported to local trauma centers, yet, regrettably, one of them also lost their life due to the severity of their injuries. The third victim is currently hospitalized, receiving the necessary medical care.
Richmond Police Department’s Homicide detectives promptly responded to the scene and have initiated a thorough investigation into this distressing incident.
