BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Update (May 31, 9:30 a.m.): Caltrans said that the Taft Highway has reopened in both ways.
At least one person is dead after a head-on crash on Taft Highway on Wednesday morning.
According to the CHP’s website, a head-on crash happened on Taft Highway near Highway 43 at 5:29 a.m. on May 31, 2023.

The report said that it was between a white pickup truck and an unknown car.
The Taft Highway is closed between Tupman Road and Highway 43, according to Caltrans District 6.
It is unknown if anyone else was hurt or what caused the crash.
