BAKERSFIELD, California — The Kern County Coroner’s Office has found out that the girl killed in a crash on May 12 was 10 years old.
At about 4:19 p.m. on May 12, 2023, police officers from Bakersfield were called to the corner of McCutchen Road and Mountain Ridge Drive because of a crash.
When they got there, they found a 10-year-old girl with major injuries.
Even though people tried to save her life, she died about 15 minutes later at the scene.
Police said that a boy and a woman driving the same car were both hurt moderately and were taken to a hospital nearby. The woman driving the other car had minor injuries, but she didn’t want emergency help. She stayed at the scene and helped the police.
Police said that an initial investigation showed that the woman who stayed at the scene was driving west on McCutchen Road and didn’t stop at a stop sign.
The crash is not thought to have been caused by alcohol, drugs, or speed.
