Tragic Shooting Claims Life of Daniel Landeros on His 43rd Birthday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A tragic incident unfolded at Yokuts Park on Monday night, as a man lost his life to a fatal gunshot wound, as reported by The Bakersfield Police Department. The victim, Daniel Landeros, who was celebrating his 43rd birthday that day, was tragically shot and killed around 11 p.m.

Audrey Chavez, a close friend of Daniel and the Founder of the Bakersfield Aids, expressed her heartfelt condolences to Daniel’s family and the entire community, which has been deeply affected by his untimely demise. Friends who were intimately familiar with Daniel’s character and values are left searching for answers and demanding justice for a man they describe as a tireless advocate for the underprivileged.

According to Chavez, “He was always someone advocating for the needs of the underserved.” Another close friend, Phillip Castro, echoed this sentiment, stating, “I would like to see some justice brought to this situation. I think Daniel deserves that. He’s put his heart and soul into this community, and it’s time the community repays that back to Daniel.”

Daniel Castro, a prominent figure in the Bakersfield community, was known for his passionate advocacy on behalf of the LGBTQIA community, immigration reform, and civil rights. His friends fondly remember him as someone who tirelessly fought to give a voice to those often unheard. Castro described him as “hilarious, loving, compassionate,” and a “rockstar” for the community.

Unfortunately, there are still many unanswered questions surrounding why Daniel Landeros was at Yokuts Park on that fateful Monday night and who is responsible for his tragic death.

Authorities urge anyone with information about this case to contact the Bakersfield Police Department at 661-327-7111.

To commemorate Daniel’s life and honor his memory, friends and family will gather for a candlelight vigil titled “Justice for Daniel Landeros.” The vigil is scheduled to take place at Yokuts Park on Monday at 5:30 pm.
