BPD Officers and LAPD Reserve in Bakersfield Shooting Incident

A recent shooting incident in Bakersfield has come under scrutiny, involving an off-duty reserve officer from the LAPD.

The incident occurred on August 24, 2023, when the officer reported a suspected home burglary at an address located on Andretti Avenue.

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Jason Boles, engaged in a gunfire exchange with the police, resulting in his death at the scene.

As part of an ongoing criminal investigation, the Bakersfield Police Department has released pertinent body camera footage. Authorities have issued a warning that this footage might be distressing for some viewers.
