Fatal Shooting Investigated After Street Takeover in South Los Angeles

Investigators are looking into a fatal shooting that occurred shortly after a potential street takeover in the unincorporated Florence-Firestone region of South Los Angeles on Monday morning.

The incident took place around 2:50 a.m. at the crossroads of Firestone Boulevard and Hooper Avenue, as per an official press release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots.

Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered one man with at least one gunshot wound who was declared dead at the scene, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

A second individual was taken to a nearby hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Neither of the individuals who were shot has been identified.

During the time of the shooting, there were reports of a street takeover in the vicinity, which deputies from the Sheriff’s Department confirmed.

It remains uncertain whether the two incidents are connected.
